Emu War

War against Flightless Birds

The Committee: The Emu War is a crisis committee. It will start at the events two weeks before the start of The Great Emu War. Delegates will have to reenact the farmers' request for war, and the politics of the Australian senate, and create military strategies or other means to try to get a victory for the Australian Government and help the farmers. We are looking for changes to the events that have already happened to find a better way which should be addressed with a directive. Let’s just say that the first take on this was anything but a success. We hope to focus the start of committee session one on the proposed methods to take care of the emus, and jump a week at each backroom update to get to the start of the “war”. We want to start some actions on the proposed methods by the end of session one. During session two, we would like to have the bulk of the “emu war” period, and try to finish the “war” and your arcs by the end of session two. The start of session three will finalize any voting or parliamentary procedures left. Throughout the sessions, we will be getting backroom updates every 30-40 minutes, which also means a week of time has passed. Good luck everyone, may the emus not hurt us anymore!

The Topic: The Australian economy has been declining for months, hurting farmers especially. The land given to the World War One veterans was already ill-suited for agriculture, and with low crop prices, many veterans faced severe economic hardship as they struggled to make a living from the land. This difficult situation was exacerbated by the arrival of emus, further damaging the already struggling crops and intensifying the financial strain on these former soldiers. Government aid has been slow or nonexistent, causing delegates having to determine how to effectively distribute resources as well as bolster the agricultural movement. Many groups in the public have already criticized the drastic efforts against the emu population. Increased pressure from foreign and local powers against the war has swayed public opinion against the war. Most argue that using the military is far too violent to use on animals, On the other hand, the western farmers primarily being affected by the emu rampages are a quiet minority and will suffer without government intervention. The delegates will have to decide which side to support. The delegates will need to support the already struggling farmers and ensure that the land can be secured for the future. Not only is the farmland itself harmed by the emus, but also their protection, such as the gates around crops. Delegates will also need to potentially improvise another way of saving their crops from the emus and other potential threats. Military tactics should be enforced if other scenarios fail. Protection is the number one way of resolving this and we are open to any well-drafted resolution.
