JCC: Fremen V Imperium

The Committee: In the Dune JCC, delegates have been split between the Fremen and the Imperium. Committee will take place immediately in the wake of Jamis' death, with the Atreides fractured and the Harkonnen once again assuming control of Arrakis. Both the Fremen and the Imperium face a significant crossroads; the Imperium, never having faced an inter-House attack of this scale, must weigh their options, while the Fremen must consider their next course of action given Paul Atreides' presence. Delegates will find that their actions are largely contained within their distinct group, but can have a significant impact on their counterparts as well. Delegates will also find it extremely helpful to watch both Dune movies, released in 2021 and 2024, prior to the committee! We will begin immediately after the events of the first film, attempting to rewrite - or recreate - the events of the second installment.

The Topic: As the events following Jamis' death unfold, Arrakis stands at the edge of a major turning point that could reshape the Imperium and the galaxy. This committee will take place in the tense interim period between the end of the first Dune movie (2021) and the beginning of the second (2024). Many parties are at play, some more shadowy than others. The delegates must navigate this volatile moment, where the future of Arrakis, and potentially the entire universe, hangs in the balance. What impact will competing groups have? How will the Imperium respond to developments on Arrakis? Is there room for the Houses to coexist with the Fremen? What role do Paul, Jessica, and the Bene Gesserit play? How can spice affect the future balance of power? What will become of the fabric of galactic politics? This committee will explore these critical questions, with each delegate playing a pivotal role in shaping the outcome of this precarious moment in history. The decisions made here will determine whether the Imperium remains united under its traditional power structures or if a new order will emerge from the sands of Arrakis.
